20 Escudos 1946

I recently found some more banknotes from the same source as the ones I showed in this topic:

This one is the 20 Escudos 1946 from S. Tomé e Príncipe. In the world paper money catalogue, this series has not so high value. Also in F.Ferreira da Silvas book it has low value. But I can not find many of this series on the internet, so I guess they are not so common and should command a higher price?

Is there any catalogue or book with reliable price information for this series?

Olá Joakim, mais uma notinha engraçada.
Estas notas de D. Afonso V, datadas de 1946, não aparecem no mercado. A emissão deve ter sido muito baixa e possivelmente foram sendo retiradas e substituídas pelas de 1958.
Este exemplar não está em grande condição, mas não se vêem melhores nem piores. Um exemplar a ter em conta.

You are quite right.
All of them from 1946 are scarce.
The quantities printed were:
350.000 for20$00
160.000 for 50$00
100.000 for 100$00
They were replaced in 1960 by the 1958’s in order to abolish the word “Colónia”, change the bank´s shield and the nº of the “Decreto-Lei”.
These (1958) follow the previous numbering.

E quais foram as emissões da década de 1950?

Pelas minhas contas é assim:

-- 500$00 1956 80.000 -- Nº 00.001 a 80.000

-- 20$00 1958 1.350.000 -- Nº 350.001 a 1.700.000

-- 50$00 1958 760.000 -- Nº 160.001 a 920.000

-- 100$00 1958 500.000 --Nº 100.001 a 600.000

Relativamente aos 1.000$00 não tenho certezas.

Muito obrigado :-) Very interesting information with the emission amounts. I shall note this down.
I have seen the changes on the coins and on the Mocambique banknotes where the word colonia was removed. I guess it must have been when their status was changed from colonias to provincias ultramarinas.
